Mesa fires could be the result of arsonPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. --Mesa fire investigators believe at least two recent fires might have been intentionally set.
Firefighters now say yesterday's fire at a vacant Mesa apartment complex, located near University and Stapley drives, could have been the result of an arsonist setting mounds of trash ablaze in a number of the apartment units.
None of the apartments was damaged.
Crews also found another fire yesterday at a former furniture store, now a vacant warehouse, near Main Street and Dobson Road.
No injuries were reported in either fire.
While firefighters are hesitant to say the fires are connected, they do have one similarity. The fires appear to occur in the early morning, between 5:30 a.m. and 7 a.m.
