PHOENIX -- A man who kidnapped and sexually molested a 5-year-old Phoenix girl on Christmas Day was sentenced to 30 years in prison Tuesday morning.
Larry Jon Ladwig, 46, kidnapped the victim from her front yard on Christmas Day. Approximately seven hours later, the victim was seen in the defendant's truck and police officers rescued her after a high-speed chase.
After Ladwig's arrest, investigators found several photos of the victim in sexually exploitive positions, including with the defendant.
Ladwig pleaded guilty to charges of kidnapping, sexual conduct with a minor, attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, attempted molestation of a child, and aggravated assault.
He was sentenced to 30 years in prison without the possibility of early release and two lifetime probation terms.
"Christmas is supposed to be a time for joy and wonder, especially for children," County Attorney Rick Romley said. "Because of Ladwig's criminal actions, this child's memory of Christmas will forever be stained. Our office is grateful to be a part of ensuring that no child and no family will have to suffer at Ladwig's hands again."
