PHOENIX – A Phoenix doctor was arrested after a patient reported she had been physically and sexually abused.
Phoenix police say the 28-year-old female victim was allegedly abused on the afternoon of May 18 during a visit to the Estrella Women’s Health Center, located in the 10000 block of west Indian School Road.
The Phoenix Police Department’s Family Investigation Bureau conducted an investigation on Monday and took 54-year-old Dr. Galen Johnson, an OB/GYN, into custody. He was booked into a Maricopa County jail and faces sexual abuse and an assault charge.
Detectives are asking for anyone who may have information on this case or on the suspect to come forward.
After Johnson was arrested the Estrella Women's Health Center placed him on administrative leave and a spokesperson for the center confirmed he is no longer employed there.
Johnson is required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and is not to conduct any physical examinations without a medically trained witness.
