CHANDLER, Ariz. -- A teen was burned while trying to put fuel in his moped Friday morning.
The 17-year-old was at Harter Park near Chandler Boulevard and McClintock Drive with family and friends when he was burned.
According to the Chandler Fire Department, the teen was putting fuel in a moped when it somehow ignited. A friend said the boy went over a fence and jumped into a pool.
He had first- and second-degree burns over 50 percent of his body and was taken to Maricopa Medical Center.
Although his burns are significant, his injuries are not being called life-threatening.
Police are still investigating the incident.
