Ariz. survey part of effort to improve bike safety

PHOENIX -- State transportation officials say they're working to improve bicycle safety by reducing the number of bike crashes with motor vehicles.

The Department of Transportation says a key part of that effort is a statewide survey being conducted to learn about safety concerns about bicycling along state highways.

According to ADOT, the online survey asks cyclists about their level of biking experience and comfort level, where they like to bike, and their suggestions for improving bicycle riding and safety along highways.

The department says it will use the results and crash data to help shape a bicycle safety action plan.
