GLENDALE, Ariz. – Police have identified the victim after finding a decomposing body in a car parked in a Glendale neighborhood.

Someone parked the car in front of a house near 89th Avenue and Glendale. It is one of many homes on the block that is in foreclosure and abandoned.

Neighbors grew suspicious when they noticed a bad smell and something leaking from the car that had out-of-state license plate from Illinois.

Neighbors say that at first, they thought nothing of the maroon Mitsubishi but after a few days, they say they became suspicious. Richard Ozenbaugh, one neighbor, tells 3TV, “What tipped us off…something leaking…went over, pretty rank and I said 'No this isn't good’.” He called police who also noticed the smell, opened the trunk, and found a body inside.

Sgt. Brent Coombs, with Glendale police, says, “As you can imagine with time and heat, things aren’t the way they would like them to be."

Detectives quickly moved the body out of the sun and are working to identify the victim. They also moved the car to a cooler location for processing.

Neighbors say the car was parked there sometime over the weekend. Shelly Estes says, “We knew something was funky about it."

Police say the they have positively identified the victim as Karl McIntosh, 40.

Neighbors say they are left feeling unsettled now that the person who parked the car is still on the loose. Estes admits, "It's kind of surprising and eerie. We don’t like the feeling."

An autopsy conducted revealed McIntosh died as a result of gunshot wounds. Police have not identified any suspects in this homicide.
