Border Patrol agents seize hundreds of pounds of pot, make arrest

WELLTON - Border Patrol agents track down a group of illegal crossers and discover eight bundles of marijuana worth more than a quarter million dollars.

Just after midnight U.S. Border Patrol agents detected six illegal individuals about 15 miles west of the Lukeville Port of Entry.

After tracking the group on foot for about two hours they came across eight abandoned makeshift backpacks filled with bundles of pot.

Once they secured the contraband they pursued the group south toward Mexico and located one man taking him into custody.

The remaining five men were able to flee back into Mexico.

The seizure totaled 314 pounds of marijuana with a estimated street value of $251,200.
