Hawaii, UCLA, Tennessee, Georgia win in WCWSPosted: Updated:
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Hawaii's postseason run continued and Southeastern Conference teams won two of three games against Pacific-10 Conference foes on the first day of the Women's College World Series.
On Thursday, Hawaii beat Missouri 3-2 on Traci Yoshikawa's two-run home run in the seventh inning. That moves the Rainbow Wahine (50-14) into a winner's bracket game Friday against UCLA (46-11), a 16-3 winner over Florida. Andrea Harrison homered twice and drove in six runs as the Bruins broke the WCWS record for runs in a game.
The other two Pac-10 teams lost to SEC teams. Tennessee routed Arizona 9-0 as pitcher Ivy Renfroe struck out six batters and Georgia beat defending champion Washington 6-3 as Megan Wiggins hit a tiebreaking three-run home run off national player of the year Danielle Lawrie in the sixth inning.
Georgia (49-11) will play Tennessee (48-13) on Friday.
