Weekend construction June 4-7

Before you head out this weekend, make a note of these freeway construction projects, so you can avoid them and avoid the traffic headaches.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between the Loop 101 and Gilbert Road in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 7) for future carpool lane paving. Loop 101 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 also closed. DETOUR: Eastbound Loop 202 traffic can go south on Loop 101 to eastbound U.S. 60, or north on Loop 101 to eastbound McDowell Road and follow signed detour. Consider alternate routes, including eastbound I-10 to U.S. 60, to reach East Valley destinations.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 7) for deck joint installation as part of widening project. Southbound Loop 101 ramp to westbound Loop 202 closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday (June 6) for widening work. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound U.S. 60. Allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely in work zone.

Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) on-ramp at McClintock Drive and off-ramp at Scottsdale Road closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 11:30 p.m. Saturday (June 5) for freeway widening work. DETOUR: Please use alternate routes while ramps are closed. Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane in both directions between Jackrabbit Trail and Verrado Way in the West Valley from 10:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights (June 4-5) and from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (June 7) for new lane construction. DETOUR: Please slow down and be prepared to merge safely in work zones.
