GLENDALE -- A Glendale man was arrested Sunday after he reportedly stole a police bait car.

Detectives from the Glendale Police Department Auto Theft Unit deployed a bait car near 79th Avenue and Bell Road on Thursday. At about 6 p.m., a man later identified as Alfonso Hollamby, 36, got behind the wheel and drove off.

Police officers had just located the vehicle when Hollamby turned into a private parking lot in the 7500 block of West Paradise Lane and parked the car. He was taken into custody without incident.

Bait cars are equipped with audio and video equipment to document the actions of the car thieves.
