Tempe man missing after morning walk

TEMPE -- The Tempe Police Department is searching for a man who did not return home after going for a walk Tuesday morning.

According to Tempe police Sgt. Steve Carbajal, Jeffrey Allen Ahlers, 47, was last seen at 6 a.m. Tuesday as he left his home near Baseline and Rural roads to go on his morning walk.

Carbajal said Ahlers typically walks along the canal and bike paths in the area.

There are no signs of foul play, but Carbajal said this behavior is not typical of Ahlers. There is no indication that Ahlers is a danger to himself or others.

Ahlers is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 190 pounds with red hair and blue eyes. Ahlers was last seen wearing khaki shorts, a blue polo-style shirt and black-and-white tennis shoes.

Anyone with information on Ahlers' condition or whereabouts is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department.
