PEORIA -- A Walgreens employee was killed after a car jumped a curb and hit her while she was sitting on a bench outside the Peoria store Tuesday morning.
Peoria police and fire crews responded to a car-pedestrian collision at the Walgreens at Lake Pleasant and Beardsley roads at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Peoria police spokesman Mike Tellef, Georgette Racine, 87, was parking when she pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake and her vehicle jumped the curb, hitting a Walgreens employee while she was sitting on a bench during her break.
Paramedics treated Alice Fielding, 65, at the scene. She was flown to a Valley trauma center where she died as a result of her injuries.
Tellef said there was no impairment involved and at this time no charges are expected to be filed.
