SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Vanilla Ice, the White rapper who topped the Billboard charts in 1990 with 'Ice, Ice Baby, kicked off his latest comeback attempt at The Venue of Scottsdale Friday night.

The Friday night show is in support of the upcoming release of his sixth album, titled "WTF" which will be available June 22 on Sony records.

Vanilla Ice, who was born Robert Van Winkle, says he has calmed down a bit since his touring days in the 90s. In an interview with 3TV he says he was devastated earlier Friday after learning of the death of his former "Surreal Life" co-star Gary Coleman

Van Winkle is also filming a new television show titled “The Vanilla Ice Project,” which is scheduled to debut on the DIY Network in September.  The show will feature 'Ice' and a crew of contractors as they renovate a 7,000 square-foot mansion in West Palm Beach.
