Friday furloughs; New Wal-mart; Wildfires update

A reminder that Friday is a furlough day for some Tucson city offices. Tucson water will be closed tomorrow and phone reps will not be available. Their next furlough day after that is June 11th.


A new Wal-mart is going up in the Tucson area and it's expected to bring many new jobs.

The retail giant plans to put the new location at the former Macy's building at the El con mall by mid 2012 And the store will include groceries as well as general merchandise . Construction is expected to begin in the summer of next year.


An update on a couple Arizona wildfires.

The Horseshoe Fire is burning on the Chiracahua mountains, now 600 to 700 acres. No structures are threatened right now. The nearest town is Portal.

And the Yellow Jacket fire is burning south of Arivaca. That one is about 142 acres large and is expected to be contained Friday evening.

Both fires are human caused and are under investigation.
