Pima County Sheriff deputy fired

For the last year and four months, a deputy with the sheriff's department has been getting paid, without doing any work. That changed Thursday.

Deputy Michael Canizales is currently facing sexual harassment charges involving one of his coworkers. He's been on paid administrative leave since January of 2009, but the Pima County Sheriff's Department announced Thursday -- he's been fired.

"As with any employer we're gonna have people that fall short of those expectations. It's not something we like to deal with. We have to answer to a lot more than just our boss. We have to answer to the public," says Capt. Byron Gwaltney of the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Canizales was granted paid administrative leave after appealing the department's decision of suspension without pay.
