The man charged with killing a Phoenix police officer has ties to Tucson.
Danny Martinez reportedly has family living on the far southwest side. The 30-year-old also served three years in prison on weapons charges out of Pima County.
Wednesday Martinez allegedly took off running from a car accident and shot a pursuing officer, Travis Murphy.
Murphy was 29-years-old with a wife and two young kids.
