20 Including officer hurt in huge blaze at Tempe complex

TEMPE - Crews battled a fire that broke out at a Tempe apartment complex on Tuesday afternoon near McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard.

Between 25-30 units in Casa de Grigio were involved in the fire, but it appears as if only 12 units suffered damage.

Many residents were evacuated and 25 were treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

According to Tempe police once officer was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

Crews from Mesa and Phoenix assisted the Tempe Fire Department with the two alarm blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but early reports indicate it could have been due to air conditioning work.

Up to 50 residents were displaced by the blaze.
