New building for downtown TucsonPosted: Updated:
The revitalization of downtown really started to happen when the 4th Avenue under pass reopened. Now construction is underway for another big project that area businesses hope will keep pushing downtown in the right direction.
Chicago music store has been a staple of down town for ages.
But soon the empty hole across the street on Broadway between Sixth and Scott Avenues will be filled with a 170,000 square foot building for Unisource Energy.
Even though the ground is pretty broken, the official ground breaking ceremony was Monday and for a downtown still struggling from the recession, it's a welcomed addition, "People have been looking for a real commercial anchor, down here at this part of the city and were really gonna inject some money and resources and a build a beautiful building."
Chicago music store doesn't look at the new venture as competition, they see it as a way for down town to become the attraction everyone wants it to be.
