1 Killed, 1 seriously hurt in wreck on I-17 near Pinnacle PeakPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – One woman is dead and a man is fighting for his life after they were hit by a car on Interstate 17 near Pinnacle Peak Road Sunday morning.
It happened at about 10 a.m. The wreck caused major delays for people heading north on I-17. For some reason, the car the man and woman were in was stopped in the far right lane. While the vehicle’s hazard lights were on, somebody coming up behind the stopped car didn’t see the flashing lights and slammed into the vehicle, spinning it around.
Both victims were taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital. The 24-year-old woman later died. The 36-year-old man is in serious condition.
Investigators have not released the names of anyone involved in the wreck.
The Department of Public Safety is looking into the accident.
