Knife-wielding woman shot by UA police officerPosted: Updated:
TUCSON -- A University of Arizona police officer shot a 42-year-old woman who was acting erratically with a large knife.
Tucson police said Saturday that a citizen flagged down the UA officer Friday afternoon and pointed him to the woman.
Police say the woman was holding the knife and advancing toward another woman.
The officer repeatedly yelled at her to drop the knife, but she continued toward the other woman.
That's when the officer shot her several times. The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing, and no details were released about why the woman was behaving erratically.
The officer was identified as Corporal Andrew Kisela, an eight-year veteran of the department.
