PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Fire Department said Tuesday morning a house fire burning in west Phoenix is under control.

The fire department responded to a home near 35th and Northern avenues. The fire department said originally they were concerned about ammunition stored in the back of the house.

A total of seven people were displaced by the fire. Two cats died in the blaze and the house is a total loss.

Investigators were dispatched to the scene to look for a cause.

The owner of the home said he had been having problems with a roof rat issue and they may have chewed through some wires in the roof.
