GLENDALE -- Some businesses were evacuated and a couple of roads were closed after a gas leak near 57th and Glendale avenues in downtown Glendale Tuesday morning.

According to Daniel Valenzuela with the Glendale Fire Department, an alleyway renovation is going on in the area and it appears a construction company broke a natural gas line at approximately 9 a.m..

Fire crews stopped the leak by plugging it and Southwest Gas personnel repaired the break.

Restaurants and antique shops in the area were evacuated and some streets were closed until the line was repaired.

Valenzuela said there were no reports of any injuries.
