Couple killed in murder-suicide inside Buckeye home identified

BUCKEYE, Ariz. – Deputies are investigating a murder-suicide involving a husband and wife in Buckeye.

Investigators say 28-year-old Esmer Gene Holland shot and killed his wife, 41-year-old Susan Jane Holland, inside their home near 350th Avenue south of Baseline on Saturday afternoon. Esmer then killed himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Susan's two children were in the residence at the time of the shootings.

One neighbor said, "I'm floored. I'm flabbergasted. I have no words. It's crazy, ya' know? They're both well-mannered...just good people. The last thing I would expect is this."

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Homicide Unit is investigating this case a homicide-suicide.
