Budget cuts could strain AZ water resourcesPosted: Updated:
State budget cuts will put a strain on Arizona water.
Tucson water director Jeff Biggs is a guest this week on Fox 11 Forum. He says the 58% hit to the Arizona Department of Water resources will mean its Tucson office will close. That'll affect long-term goals such as pumping less groundwater, "Their biggest chore is safe yield, by 2025. Safe yield is that you don't pump out any more groundwater than can be naturally recharged. And will we hit that in 15 years? Tucson water is doing well but across the state it's hard to tell."
