Chandler police arrest woman charged with forgery, theft

CHANDLER - Chandler police have taken into custody a cashier at One Stop Check Cashing for forgery and collecting money from loans.

Mesa resident Emma Yolanda Ruiz, 24, was an employee at the Alma School Road location at Chandler where the document forgery occurred.

Chandler police said she researched and obtained files from old customer accounts and forged documents to make it appear that the customers has entered the store and applied for new loans.

Ruiz is accused of cashing in the fake loans and keeping the money. During the forgery 23 customer account files were accessed and 39 documents and signatures were forged. A total of $14,700 was fraudulently collected from the business.

Ruiz faces charges of forgery, theft and fraudulent schemes. She is currently being held at the Maricopa County jail.
