MARICOPA – A man was taken into custody after an alleged domestic violence incident in Maricopa.
Police say they responded to a report of unknown trouble in the 20000 block of north Alexis at 3:30 a.m. Thursday.
When officers arrived on scene they spoke to a woman who said she had been involved in a domestic violence situation at her home in the Palo Brea sub-division. She was taken to a hospital to receive medical treatment.
Shortly after officers made contact with Justin Watson, 27, in the 16000 block of north Palo Verde where he initially refused to cooperate with police and went inside the house.
Officers received information that Watson may have access to a firearm in the house so police began negotiations with the man and were able to convince him to exit the house at about 8 a.m.
Watson was arrested and was treated for a minor injury on the scene. He faces several counts of domestic violence.
