Nogales agents arrest juvenile with meth taped to his bodyPosted: Updated:
NOGALES - Agents near the Nogales station on Interstate 19 took into custody a juvenile with methamphetamine taped to his body.
The total weight of the narcotics was slightly more than half a pound.
The juvenile was a United State citizen who was held for processing and transfer to the Drug Enforcement Administration office.
A release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said, "Drug smuggling organizations have customarily targeted vulnerable members of society to transport contraband into the United State. These organizations are stepping up their efforts to recruit juveniles to do their dirty work. Young people, enticed by promises of a quick buck, are susceptible to being drawn into and becoming victims of these organizations."
The Tucson Sector Border Patrol has seized approximately 46 pounds of methamphetamine in the current fiscal year which began on Oct. 1, 2009.
