Maryvale officers bust repeat graffiti offender

PHOENIX - Phoenix police officers from the Maryvale Precinct arrested a graffiti suspect are a long investigation of damage in the Maryvale neighborhoods.

Robert Hernandez is accused of committing criminal damage and graffiti to numerous properties.

According to investigators Hernandez is part of a tagging crew who use the moniker of "NEAR". During the investigation officers discovered Hernandez used a fire extinguisher to paint onto the walls of several businesses causing several thousand dollars in damage.

Hernandez admitted to police during his arrest that he is responsible for the crimes and several evidence items were located at his residence, including a fire extinguisher and painter's mask.

Hernandez has been booked into jail for several felony charges of graffiti within our city.
