GLENDALE -- A school bus hit a woman walking in a Glendale crosswalk  Wednesday morning.

It happened at about 7:30 a.m. According to police, the bus was making a left turn onto Peoria Avenue from 47th Avenue when it hit a woman who was crossing the street in the crosswalk. She has been identified as 39-year-old Oralia Valente.

The woman was taken to John C. Lincoln Hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.

Sgt. Jim Cunningham of the Glendale Police Department said there were 19 students on board the bus, which belongs Cortez Park Charter School, at the time of the accident. None of the kids, who ranged in age from kindergarten to eighth grade, was hurt. Those students have been taken to school.
