CHANDLER -- One suspect is in custody and two others are on the loose after they allegedly opened fire on a vehicle in Chandler.
At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Chandler police received a 911 call from a man who said someone was trying to shoot him. The 20-year-old Chandler man reportedly was driving with friends on Galveston Street near Arizona Avenue when a vehicle pulled behind them and the suspects opened fire, grazing the driver's neck.
Chandler police Detective David Ramer said the victim described the suspect vehicle as a red Pontiac sedan.
Within minutes, officers located the suspect vehicle driving near Chandler Boulevard and Hamilton Street. Ramer said the officers attempted to stop the car, but the suspects drove to an apartment complex near Galveston Street and McQueen Road where they abandoned the vehicle.
