70S for the next three days, gorgeous weekend ahead

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- We're only going to top out in the low 70s today, well below our seasonal average of 88 degrees.

We're going to stay in the 70s for the next three days, warming back up into the 80s by Sunday.

Enjoy it while it lasts because come next week, we'll return to the 90s.

In addition to the cooler temperatures, wind is the name of the weather game today.

Damaging winds and dust storms are likely Thursday in Cochise County with strong gusty winds expected across the rest of southeast Arizona.

The National Weather Service said a strong spring storm system continues to intensify over the great basin.

The storm will force a cold front south across Arizona later today.

Areas of blowing dust will be a problem, especially near fields that have been recently plowed.

Dust storms with visibilities near one quarter of a mile are possible Thursday afternoon toward the New Mexico border in Cochise County.

In Greenlee County, a wind advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Wind gusts near 50 miles-an-hour are predicted Thursday afternoon.
