Suspect arrested after body wrapped in blankets found at Phoenix apartment complexPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police detectives arrested a suspect in the murder of a man whose body was found lying beside a tipped-over shopping cart at an apartment complex.
Phoenix police officers were called to the Pine Ridge Apartments near 45th Avenue and Thomas Road on March 13.
The officers learned that a man had been pushing a shopping cart through the common-use area of the complex when the cart tipped over and a body fell out. The suspect fled the area and residents saw the victim lying on the ground, wrapped in blankets.
Homicide detectives served search warrants on a residence at the apartment complex and a house near 79th and Indianola avenues where a suspect, Rudy Soriano, 26, was reported to be staying.
Detectives determined that the apartment complex was the location where the victim, identified as Rodolpho Yurralde, 32, was killed and his body stored before being dumped in the common area. Holmes said numerous items of evidence were recovered from the apartment.
Yurralde died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Holmes.
During the investigation, detectives developed probable cause to arrest Soriano for the murder.
On April 16, detectives made contact with Soriano near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road and he was taken into custody without incident.
At this time, police do not have a motive for the homicide.
