TUCSON - A traffic stop on Interstate 19 south of Tucson leads to a huge cocaine bust.

On Thursday, just after 6 a.m. a Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol Officer stopped a red 1993 GMC pick-up truck traveling north. The stop for a traffic violation was made just north of the Border Patrol Checkpoint.

A DPS canine assisted in the search which revealed several packages inside the gas tank.

A total of 29.3 pounds of cocaine with an estimated bulk street value of the cocaine at $372,400.

The driver Alfredo Cazares-Perez, 41, and his sister, Dinoran Araceli Cazares-Perez, 35, were arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail on charges of possession and transportation of narcotic drugs for sale.

Both of the suspects are from Nogales and had just crossed the border about 30 minutes prior to the stop.

The drugs and vehicle were both seized by officers.
