EAGER – A man involved in a 10-hour standoff with police was arrested after pointing a rifle left in a patrol car at himself.

Yancy Shane Reed, 34, was the subject at the center of the standoff on Monday after police in Eager were called just before 1 a.m. on Monday with the caller reporting a domestic dispute involving a weapon.

Due to the information officers received from the 911 call, they took a rifle to the scene but put it in the back of a squad car after arriving at the scene and determining there was no other weapon involved.

Police then reportedly placed Reed into the back of the same patrol car where the rifle was while officers questioned witnesses.

When officers checked on Reed they say he had the rifle in his cuffed hands and was pointing the firearm at himself.

A SWAT team and a negotiator were called from Show Low and they were able to talk the suspect down. He is currently in custody in Eager.
