WILLCOX – Almost 1,000 pounds of marijuana was busted by border agents at a Southern Arizona checkpoint.
A news release from the United States Customs and Border Protection indicates agents with the Willcox Border Patrol station seized almost 970 pounds of pot over the weekend of April 16 at the checkpoints located on State Route 80 and State Route 90.
K-9 teams helped search vehicles in three separate inspections that led to the discovery of the drugs.
Over the last six months border agents in the Tucson sector have confiscated over half of a million pounds of marijuana with a street value of more than $441 million.
