PHOENIX -- Phoenix police arrested a group believed to be responsible for a string of commercial burglaries in the Valley.
During the burglaries, which began in December, the suspects forced their way through the walls of neighboring businesses. Once inside the target location, the suspects forced open the safe. Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson said a number of burglaries in Phoenix, Peoria and Glendale had a similar M.O.
On Wednesday night, a surveillance team observed four individuals break into the safe of a check-cashing store at 75th and Peoria avenues and remove money. Thompson said all four suspects were arrested at the scene.
Detectives believe the suspects are responsible for 10 burglaries in Phoenix, four in Peoria and one in Glendale. They have been identified as Felix E. Lopez-Condom, 26; Juan D. Hernandez-Veranes, 30; Jorge Magaz, 41; and Yuliesky Suarez, 29.
The suspects were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and participation in a criminal syndicate. Magaz and Suarez were also charged with leading a criminal syndicate. More charges are expected.
