Horse repeatedly hit in the face by frustrated 'new' ownerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A rescue group provided medical care to a horse after it was allegedly beaten on Thursday.
Rescuers say Susie Q, the horse, was hit repeatedly on the face and had several lacerations and a concussion.
The horse's owner said she could no longer care for Susie Q and had decided to give her away. When a man came to take the horse and had trouble getting her into the trailer, he allegedly started punching it. The horse then started to flail its head around, bashing it against the trailer.
The horse's original owner and 3TV contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, but have not yet received responses.
The rescue crew took the horse to a ranch north of the Valley to recover.
