City council changes; Access Tucson and Channel 12 not merging

Posted: Updated:

At its meeting Tuesday, the council agreed to hold a public hearing and let anyone interested in replacing Rodney Glassman speak for a few minutes and take questions. Under the city charter, the mayor and council will select someone who lives in Ward-2 to fill out Glassman's term. He resigned last week to run for the U.S. Senate.

Access Tucson and Channel 12 will not move under the same roof after all.

The council voted Tuesday to keep both organizations in their current location. Council members voted several weeks ago to have Channel 12 move into the Access Tucson building on Broadway, but the city determined the costs to relocate were greater than expected.
