TEMPE – A Valley business with a history of complaints is under investigation for fraud.
Postal inspectors, the Attorney General's Office and Tempe police served search warrants at several locations on Tuesday.
They are investigating Bankcard Empire in connection with a telemarketing home business scheme.
Inspectors say there are potentially thousands of victims. Postal Inspector Patricia Armstrong explains, “We have taken possession of most of the computers, a lot of the documents associated with this business."
Officers arrested Leslie Mersky, the son of the company's president, on charges of forgery and fraud schemes.
In just the past three years consumers filed nearly 400 complaints against Bankcard Empire with the Better Business Bureau. Many people claim they were ripped off.
