TEMPE -- A Tempe police officer caught a burglar in the act Monday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, a Tempe police officer was checking an industrial complex near Warner Road and Priest Drive where some businesses have been burglarized recently.

He saw a dark-colored sedan in the parking lot with its lights on and noticed that it was unoccupied.

The officer saw a man inside one of the businesses, trying to remove a flat-screen television that was mounted on a wall.

As the officer approached, the suspect exited through a broken window and got into his car.

The officer followed the vehicle to a nearby apartment complex where the suspect got out of his car and ran. The officer caught up with the man and placed him under arrest.

The suspect was identified as Jonathan Martin Runyon, 21.

Runyon was booked into Tempe City Jail on charges of burglary and driving on a suspended license.
