A huge UA Basketball donation

The $2.9 M gift is the first of it's kind to the Arizona basketball program because it's a collaborative effort between Tucsonans Cole and Jeannie Davis along with Head Coach Sean Miller and his wife Amy.

The Davis's are giving $2.65 M to help the department build a strength and training facility planned for the east end of the Richard Jefferson gymnasium. The miller's are donating $250,000 that will make up the difference. Cole and Jeannie said Coach Miller's long term commitment was a major selling point for the donation but in the end it came down to contributing to the success of Arizona's student athletes.

"The student-athlete, we feel, provides leadership for our communities, our government, business, the disciplines that are learned, the values, the competition. This creates leaders. So our giving to the athletic department is really to support the student-athletes and the programs here that support them," says Cole Davis.

Cole and Jeannie Davis donated $1 M to name the west court of the Jefferson Gymnasium in memory of former Arizona women's basketball star Shantinice Polk. They are major supporters of the entire Arizona Athletic Department.
