Grand Canyon DiplomaPosted: Updated:
MESA -- The Legislature is taking up a proposal that would allow high school students to graduate as much as two years early by passing special core courses and tough new tests in reading and math.
The special diploma -- the Grand Canyon Diploma -- is not designed to prepare students to go on to a competitive four-year college. If passed and signed into law, the state could award the first early diplomas by 2014.
Javier Soto talks to Rep. Ruch Crandall (R) of Mesa about the proposed program.
