PRESCOTT -- A 72-year-old Prescott man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a bank inside a supermarket and indicated that there were explosives inside the store.
According to the Prescott Police Department, Thomas Joseph Kohoutek entered the Compass Bank branch inside the Albertsons Supermarket at Sheldon and Marina streets at approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police Lt. Andrew Reinhardt said Kohoutek displayed a handgun, gave a teller a note and robbed two tellers of an undisclosed amount of money from the bank as well as some of their personal money.
Kohoutek reportedly indicated that he had accomplices and explosives placed throughout the store.
After Kohoutek left the bank, he was immediately taken into custody by police officers.
The store was evacuated while police checked for any possible accomplices or explosive devices, but none were found.
Kohoutek is being held on a $500,000 bond at the Yavapai County Jail. He is charged with three counts of armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of kidnapping.
