PHOENIX -- An illegal immigrant from Honduras was sentenced to more than 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual assault.

According to the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Jose Efrain Gomez-Gomez, 32, was sentenced Tuesday to 42 years in prison for attacking three victims.

In July, a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a man who broke into her home. DNA evidence linked the attack to an unsolved rape that happened in Phoenix in 2007 in which a woman was attacked in her home.

In 2007, a man tried to kidnap a teenage girl but she managed to escape.

Phoenix police officers continued to investigate and determined the three attacks were committed by Gomez-Gomez. He was arrested in November.

On March 1, Gomez-Gomez pleaded guilty to six charges, including three counts of sexual assault.
