AVONDALE – Police in Avondale said a man wanted for questioning in connection with the molestation of a child turned himself in on Tuesday.

The abuse allegedly happened last summer on North 126th Avenue near Dysart Road and Van Buren Street. The victim reportedly was a family friend.

Investigators say Joseph Anthony Dominguez was on the run and avoiding contact with police. It was thought that he had fled to California or Mexico, but possibly had been seen in the Phoenix area.

Police had requested the public's help to locate Dominguez.

Avondale police Detective Reuben Gonzales said Dominguez had been feeling the pressure by local and state law enforcement agencies and turned himself in to Avondale police Tuesday morning.

Dominguez was arrested and booked on two counts of child molestation and was transported to Maricopa County's Fourth Avenue Jail.
