Phoenix boy taken to Mexico by father found after nearly 3 yearsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A 10-year-old Phoenix boy was reunited with his mother after his father reportedly took him to Mexico nearly three years ago.
According to the FBI, the child's father, J. Arturo Ramirez-Garcia, told the child's mother that he was taking their son on a two-week vacation to see the boy's grandparents in Guanajuato, Mexico, on Aug. 3, 2007.
On Sept. 23, 2007, the child's mother told the Phoenix Police Department that her son did not return from Mexico.
The FBI and Mexico law enforcement authorities located the child in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico, in March.
The child was recovered and reunited with his mother through the work of the Customs and Border Protection, FBI, Phoenix Police Department, Sonora State Investigative Police, and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
