BUCKEYE -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies are searching for the driver who fled the scene of a fatal wreck in Buckeye early Monday morning.

It happened just after 4:30 a.m. in the area of 203rd Avenue and Ray Road.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, a 1996 Pontiac hit a man who was on some kind of motorized scooter. The victim, Jason Vanosdell, 39, died at the scene.

Aerial video from the scene showed the scooter wedged underneath the car. Extensive damage to the car's windshield was also visible.

Deputies say the driver and possibly two passengers ran from the Pontiac. So far, they have not been found.

Details about what led up to the fatal wreck were not immediately available.
