Elderly woman crossing street dies after being struck by car in Maricopa

MARICOPA – An 80-year-old woman died as a result of injuries she suffered after being struck by a car in Maricopa.
Officers responded to the area of Honeycutt and Taft on Thursday at about 7:15 p.m. and found that a pedestrian had been struck while trying to cross the street.
Witnesses told officers it was dark as two cars were traveling westbound on Honeycutt approaching Taft.
One vehicle reportedly turned into a church parking lot and the second vehicle, a small passenger car, continued traveling west and struck the woman, identified as Aurora Combs, a resident of Maricopa.
The passenger in the vehicle that struck Combs was treated at the hospital for minor injuries while the driver was treated and released at the scene.
The Maricopa Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident. The driver has not been cited and no charges have been filed.
