Mexican nationals arrested for allegedly robbing freight trains

FLAGSTAFF -- Two Mexican nationals were arrested for trying to disable and rob freight trains as they headed through Northern Arizona.

Authorities are reporting at least two incidents so far.

BNSF Railway spokeswoman Lena Kent said the suspects cut the brake hoses on a train near Williams on Friday. The burglars then removed the contents from two railroad cars and set them beside the tracks.

Kent said it appeared that the crooks were going to come back for the contents, which included televisions and other electronics.

All the contents were recovered and no one was injured.

The other similar incident occurred near Winona, which is east of Flagstaff.

There is no word if there are any other suspects still on the run.
