Partly cloudy tonight and High of 80 on WednesdayPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- An area of high pressure is our dominant weather feature today, which means we're looking at an above-average high of 88 degrees.
We are, however, looking at some significant changes for tomorrow and especially Thursday.
Cooler weather is on the way, and that's going to kick up wind speeds, possibly to dangerous levels.
Winds could start kicking up this afternoon, and more so this evening as the first bands of the weather front move through. Gusts could be at or above 30 mph.
What we're watching is a big storm that's packing quite a bit of cool air and possibly some rain, perhaps up to a 1/2 inch in the Valley. We could even see some thunderstorm activity and perhaps even hail on Thursday.
For certain, we will be seeing strong, dangerous winds throughout the state.
Wednesday, we're calling for sustained winds out of the southwest up to 25 mph with gusts higher than that, which means there will likely be areas of blowing dust.
The high on Wednesday should be about 79 degrees, which is about average for this time of year. We also have a chance of rain Wednesday night. That chance continues throughout the day Thursday, when we'll top out at just 61. Plan on a high of about 67 degrees Friday as things clear up, and then a lovely weekend with a forecast high of 79 on Easter Sunday.
